Le Vide (or la Propagation dans le Vide) is a multimedia sound installation that explores Sound in cinema, more specifically Sound in Aixois cinema.
Exploring the presence of the void in cinema, the intangible of phonic and visual projection, the installation questions this immaterial presence and works sound as memory. Intangible but present, invisible but creating the image; thus transforming the void into a box of evocative resonances.
Like an imaginary space, the audience enters a room of curtains, without knowing the dimensions, or what they hide. Discovering the space, the public first explores it aurally, the sounds from behind the camera and seeming to be in a cinema room. Moving inside the installation, the public discovers the video projections distributed throughout the space, being obliged to pass through them, thus becoming part of Le Vide.
Le vide is part of the series of installations on the theme of Memories of Aix-en-Provence, exploring forgotten places and themes of heritage. You can find in the portfolio the other pieces of the project, such as Ruines de la Visitation and Allegorie de la Caverne.
