At the heart of the garden, the sound installation gives voice to statues forgotten in time. Creeping plants, symbols of enduring life, surround these silent sculptures. Whispers carried on the wind carry the sound of leaves, evoking approaching footsteps. Forgotten words echo like an immaterial presence. The statues seem to be trying to hear us, their voices frozen in time and oblivion.
The “Echos Passés" sound installation is a two parts piece, creating an immersive experience between the garden of statues at the Monument à Joseph Sec and the sculpture hall of the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence. This delicate and poetic work explores the themes of sculpture, memory and the presence of the past, highlighting the duality between the sculpted object and the frozen human presence.
